The book ‘World Poetry Yearbook 2013’ is an anthology of poems written by 211 poets of 93 countries all over the world. The superb collection of poems was edited by two eminent contemporary poets viz. Choi Lai Sheung of Hong Kong and Zhang Zhi of China. The book was published by The Earth Culture Press, P.R. China. In this book we find the poets of Albania, Angola, Argentina, Armenia, Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Botswana, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Croatia, Cuba, Cyprus, Cyprus, Czech, Denmark, Ecuador, Egypt, El Salvador, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Ghana, Greece, Guatemala, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Jordan, Kenya, Kosovo, Latvia, Lebanon, Lithuania, Macedonia, Malawi, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Montenegro, Morocco, Mozambique, Myanmar, Nepal, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Norway, Pakistan, Palestine, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Senegal, Serbia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Syria, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, UK, United Arab Emirates, USA, Venezuela, Vietnam and Zimbabwe. I mentioned the above names in order to make the readers understand the surprising amount of energy, labor and dedication were invested by the editors in chief with their editorial board.

In fact it is very difficult to mention the names and poems of all the poets in a small review but as I have noticed one thing that as it is a worldclass anthology, each and every poet tried his level best to show his best performance, the result of which is the anthology has become a great success. A poet can be proud to be a participant of it.

Agron Shele, a poet of Albania, through his poem ‘White light’ has wakened the waters of his soul with white hope, white words and white life. Poet Muharrem Kurti of the same land found his ‘Grandma's Missing’ in his poem. Namik Selmani assures us when he says,

Believe me, and soul becomes a flower

When you take a step that has no return. (Pg. 16)

 

Prof. Ruy Duarte de Carvalho of Angola in his ‘Pastoral Song’ shows us that on the hips of his cow ‘the sparkling sky / painted by the rising sun.’

Poetess Susana Roberts of Argentina in her poem realized 'Eternity' as the ‘Queen of Night / in the body of water’. Poet Gasham Najafzadeh of Azerbaijan in his poem 'War, Boot, Death' shares his thought as,

At times being dirty of boots

is the mark of inside tension.

In one word

boot is the most mournful

photo of a man. (Pg. 32)

 

Jean-Luc Wanthier of Belgium discovers ‘The Naked Interior’ in his poem where he finds an unknown identity whose ‘....long predatory work / is to transform / the living / into dead letters’. Zarko Milenic of Bosnia and Harzegovina writes in his poem ‘Napoleon’:

The Europe was small to me

The island Helena is bigger

But two meters of my grave

Will be too much. (Pg. 43)

 

Poet Marcio-Andre of Brazil in his poem ‘Knife in Water’ causes our wonder when he utters,

We are only strong when we are serious

[ the poem doesn't inform life

but neither does life inform the poem ]

and we are only serious when we feel solitude. (Pg. 46)

 

Teresinka Pereira, a poetess of Brazil / USA, a very good friend of mine, written two poems ‘Shadows’ and ‘Just Poems’ where she very beautifully presents her dedicated poetic soul:

After I throw the verses

onto a white paper

my being rests in the shadow

while in my veins

the empty night flows

towards the dawn. (Pg. 47)

 

Juri Talvet, a strong poet of Estonia, introduces us with the great realization of life i.e. the sea of time engulfs everything:

Unaware of separation by lands and seas,

Unaware that a year differs from a day,

that in the end there is no difference. (Pg. 112)

 

Andrew Parkin of France, a scholar-poet, knows the address of ‘A Secret Place’ where one can always hide and that is his heart and to him ‘Years’, ‘are leaves / that open, spread, turn, and fall away’.

The famous poetess Choi Lai Sheung of Hong Kong who is adored and loved by the poets all over the world for her multi-faceted genius and diehard dedication to literature, has added four poems. In her poems a ‘Seagull’ with its ‘Poetic Soul’ after ‘Reading the Sea’ looks at the azure sky with great 'Expectation' , 'To grow into the poetic soul / which is elegant and beautiful’. (Pg. 145)

 

Poet Xiushi of Hong Kong takes ‘Snapshots of a Brave New World’ under the ‘Autumn Moon over a Faraway Lodge’ in his poems. (Pg. 149)

 

Sigurdur PALSSON is a poet of Iceland, watches ‘Nocturne for Mercury’ when he sketches,

Reflection and knowledge

of unity

in a fragile image

in the breeze-rippled mirror of water. (Pg. 156)

 

Prof. R. K. Sing of India has again kept up our expectation by his thought provoking poems, ‘Spiritual Flickers: A Tanka Sequence’. I have been an admirer of this powerful poet since long and feel happy when I see he writes,

I can’t know her

from the body, skin or curve:

the perfume cheats

like the sacred hymns chanted

in hope, and there's no answer (Pg. 166)

 

Janis Elsbergs, a poet of Latvia, does not want to look back in his poem ‘I’m Walking and Wondering’ because he is afraid he would not find his shadow. Therefore he writes,

I am walking and wondering

Why I leave no footprints

I went this way yesterday

I've gone this way all my life. (Pg. 197)

 

Becir Vukovic of Montenegro is a famous poet. As a skillful painter of first water he draws excellent pictures before us in his two poems, ‘It Is Not Funny’ and ‘Little House’, e.g.:

Above the little house

mountains cluster,

and snows

with traces divine. (Pg. 218)

 

Poet Domi Chirongo of Mozambique touches our heart very softly in his poem ‘African Potato’ when he writes,

there is progress, they say.

truly,

poverty

decreases

when we poor die.

this is our tragic logic

that’s the way of the

world! (Pg. 221)

 

Shahida Latif, a poetess of Pakistan adds two nice poems, ‘While Flying To London’ and ‘I Ask Someone To Resolve’. She writes in a romantic mood,

Whenever I depart

To the new destinations,

Your memories

Begin to emerge up in the mind. (Pg. 245)

 

Jose Wendell Capili is a prominent poet and writer in contemporary Philippines. The poet with his magical words mesmerize us when he pens,

Beginning with an old pine

the tree allows

its loneliness

to drift into the waters

where it heaves

the fluidity of crustaceans

in their hard shells. (Pg. 254)

 

Marlena Zynger, a poetess of Poland, expresses the eternal unconditional love of mother in her poem ‘Mother loves a priori’.

In the poem ‘An Old Man’s Song’ by Dusan Gojkov of Serbia we find the picture of crores of conjugal life where an old man of seventy falls in love all over again to his aged wife. The sensitive pen of the poet reminds us the value of husband-wife relation which is very chose to Indian culture.

Shi Ying, the famous poet and scholar of Singapore, being a doctor by profession proves that he knows very well the ‘Anatomy of Poetry Writing’ and he affirms us that ‘Successful Break through Brings Spring’, where he

says,

A poem revealing evils and extolling goodness

Is a bomb

Which is inflammable

A warm and tender poem

Has rays of light to itself

A pearl (Pg. 289)

 

Carmen Maria Camacho Adarve, a strong poetess of Spain, shows us the ‘Happy Road To Life’ in her two poems. In fact as long as we live we should take time to love, laugh, cry, read, play, dream, live and of course to

think. (Pg. 296)

 

Poetess Meng Ling of Thailand draws our attention ‘Beyond the water’ where she awares us,

Beyond the water

Is she the beauty still

Singing a song of eternal love (Pg. 310)

 

Saif Al Marri of United Arab Emirates, author of the two poems ‘The Betrayer’ and ‘The Deceiving Shadow’, is a very sensitive and romantic poet. I am sure his both poems will raise a storm in the heart of the person who has even a little bit of love. The poems prove that the heart of the poet is replete with the nectar of that heavenly blessings, e.g.:

Her youth immortal, eternally sublime,

If the ruins of house were wiped out

by a more forgiving Time,

Some of her, to me shall return,

And I to my carefree youth would turn.

I possess her heart and she my soul, ... (Pg. 333)

 

Poet Zhang Zhi whom the world knows as the editor of the famous poetry magazine ‘The World Poets Quarterly’ and the president of the International Poetry Translation and research centre is a distinguished poet in the world of poetry. His pen name is Diablo. He is a very good friend of mine. I feel proud of his whole hearted service to the field of poetry. I always find a soft shadow of tenderness in his poems. His words strike at the innermost wall of our heart. In the poem ‘Dreamland’ how beautifully and aesthetically he touches our heart when the little lamb sobs to see her mother gets roasted. (Pg. 88)

 

To conclude, I would say, Dr. Zhang Zhi has done a stupendous job by uniting so many contemporary poets of the world. Thanks to him and all the members of IPTRC who assisted him to make this yearbook a great success. I think through his poems as well as his deeds Zhang Zhi & Choi Lai Sheung want to make 'The Earth Where We Are Living' into a ‘Dreamland’ where irrespective of cast-colour and creed all the poets of this world can stand united and speak for the global love, peace and brotherhood. Hat’s off to your spirit.

《世界诗歌年鉴2013》是一部诗歌选集，收入了来自93个国家的211名诗人的诗作。这部精彩的诗选由两位杰出的当代诗人主编：香港的蔡丽双和重庆的张智，本书由美国环球文化出版社出版。在这本书中，我们可以读到来自不同国家的诗人的诗作，包括阿尔巴尼亚、安哥拉、阿根廷、亚美尼亚、澳大利亚、奥地利、阿塞拜疆、巴林岛、白俄罗斯、比利时、波斯尼亚、黑塞哥维那、博茨瓦纳、巴西、保加利亚、加拿大、智利、中国、哥伦比亚、克罗地亚、古巴、塞浦路斯、捷克、丹麦、厄瓜多尔、埃及、萨尔瓦多、爱沙尼亚、芬兰、法国、格鲁吉亚、德国、加纳、希腊、危地马拉、香港、匈牙利、冰岛、印度、印度尼西亚、伊朗、伊拉克、爱尔兰、以色列、意大利、牙买加、日本、约旦、肯尼亚、科索沃、拉脱维亚、黎巴嫩、立陶宛、马其顿、马拉威、马来西亚、马尔塔、墨西哥、黑山、摩洛哥、莫桑比克、缅甸、尼泊尔、荷兰、新西兰、尼日利亚、挪威、巴基斯坦、巴勒斯坦、巴拉圭、秘鲁、菲律宾、波兰、葡萄牙、罗马尼亚、俄罗斯、塞内加尔、塞尔维亚、新加坡、斯洛伐克、斯洛文尼亚、西班牙、瑞典、叙利亚、台湾、泰国、土耳其、乌克兰、英国、阿拉伯联合酋长国、美国、委内瑞拉、越南、津巴布韦，等等。之所以罗列这么多国家的名字，是为了让读者明白：主编和其他编辑人员为此书花费了多少的精力、付出了多少的劳动、做出了多少的奉献。

事实上，在这篇短评中，论及所有诗人的名字和诗篇是很难的。但是，我注意到一件事情，作为一本世界规模的选本，每个诗人都展示了自己最佳的诗作和水平。这样一来，这本诗集就获得了巨大的成功。能入选此一诗集，诗人当然感到非常荣幸。

 

阿格龙·舍勒是阿尔巴尼亚诗人，其诗作《白光》，唤醒了其灵魂之水，用其白色的希望、白色的单词和白色的生活。来自同一国家的诗人穆哈雷姆·库尔蒂在诗作中找回了其《奶奶的思念》。纳米克·塞尔马尼安慰我们：

相信我，灵魂变成花朵

当你迈出永不回头的一步。（16页）

 

安哥拉鲁伊·杜阿尔特·德·卡瓦略教授在其《田园之歌》中，向我们展示，在其牛屁股上，“闪烁的空中/冉冉升起的太阳的绘画。”

 

阿根廷女诗人苏珊娜·罗伯茨在其诗中，实现了“恒久”，当“夜之女王/在水体中。”阿塞拜疆诗人格萨姆·纳吉扎德在其诗作《战争·靴子·死亡》中分享了他的思想：

有时脏了靴子

内在张力的标志。

一言蔽之

靴子乃是最为悲恸的

人的相片。 (32页)

 

比利时的让-卢克·万西亚在其诗中发现了“赤裸的内部”，在这儿他发现了未知的身份：“……长久的捕食工作/就是转换/生活的信件/进入死亡的信件”。波斯尼亚和黑塞哥维那的扎尔科·米尼克在其诗作《拿破仑》中写到：

欧洲对我而言很小

赫勒拿岛较大

但我两米的墓穴

将会太大。(43页)

 

巴西诗人马尔西奥-安德烈在其诗作《水中之刀》中的诗句引起我们的好奇：

严肃之时我们更加强大

[诗歌没有告知生活

但生活也没有告知诗歌]

当我们感到孤独我们就严肃起来。(46页)

 

巴西/美国女诗人特丽辛卡·佩雷拉是我很好的朋友，写了两首诗歌：《影子》和《仅仅诗歌》。在这两首诗歌中，她优美地呈现了自己奉献的诗魂：

在我把诗歌抛入

一张白纸之后

我的存在休息在影子里

而在我的血脉里

空洞的夜流动

朝向早晨。(47页)

 

爱沙尼亚实力派诗人尤里·塔尔维，引导我们实现生活中的伟大抱负，即时间的海洋吞没一切：

未曾意识到土地与海洋的隔绝，

未曾意识到一年不同于一天，

结局却没有两样。(112页)

 

法国的安德鲁·帕金是学者兼诗人，他知道“一个秘密地方”的地址，一个人总可以在那儿藏匿，这就是他的心，对他而言，就是“岁月”，“是叶子/打开、舒展、旋转、掉落”。

香港著名女诗人蔡丽双，因其多方面的才华和对文学的执着献身而受到全世界诗人的热爱。书中收入她四首诗作。在其具有《诗魂》的《海鸥》《读海》之后，带着巨大的《期盼》看着蔚蓝的天空，“长出秀丽的/诗魂”。(145页)

 

香港诗人秀实在《远方小屋上空的秋月》之下，留下《勇敢新世界之印象》。(149页)

 

司格德·帕尔森是一位冰岛诗人，看着《水银夜曲》，他进行速描：

倒影和知识

合一

在一个脆弱的影像中

在风吹而波动的水之镜中。(156页)

 

印度的辛格教授以其发人深思的诗作，引起我们的期盼：《精神之闪烁：短歌序曲》。对这位实力派诗人，我仰慕已久。我很高兴读到他的诗句：

我不能认出她

从她的身体、皮肤或曲线：

香水欺骗

一如吟唱的圣曲

希望，没有答案(166页)

 

贾尼斯·埃尔斯伯格是拉脱维亚诗人，在其诗作《我走着且疑惑着》中，他不想回头，因为他恐怕找不到自己的影子。所以他写到：

我走着且疑惑着

为什么我没有留下脚印

昨天我朝这边走来

我一生都这么走着。 (197页)

 

来自黑山的贝塞·乌科维奇是一位著名诗人。作为技巧娴熟的水彩画家，他在两首诗作中绘出了精彩的画面：《这并非滑稽》和《小房子》。例如：

在小房子之上

山峰重重，

落雪

带着圣洁的痕迹。(218页)

 

莫桑比克诗人多米·茨龙格以其诗作《非洲土豆》，而触动了我们柔软的内心：

有了进步，他们说。

真的，

贫穷

减少

当我们穷人死去。

这是我们悲剧的逻辑

那就是世界

之道！(221页)

 

巴基斯坦女诗人萨哈德·拉蒂夫奉献了两首佳作：《飞往伦敦》和《我寻求别人来解决》。她的写作有着浪漫的情调：

每当我出发

达到新的目的地，

关于你的回忆

便在心里浮起。(245页)

 

约瑟·温德尔·卡皮利是菲律宾当代杰出的诗人和作家。借助魔力词语，他将我们催眠：

从一颗古老的松树开始

树允许

它的孤独

飘进水里

掀动甲壳类动物

的液体

在她们坚硬的壳里。(254页)

 

马列娜·泽格尔是波兰女诗人，她在诗作《妈妈爱先验》一诗中表达了对妈妈的永恒的无条件的爱。

在塞尔维亚诗人杜桑·戈伊科夫的诗作《老人之歌》中，我们读到夫妇生活的画面：一个年逾七十的老人再次爱上了他年老的妻子。用敏感之笔，诗人提醒我们：夫妻关系的价值，在印度文化中非常重要。

 

史英是新加坡著名诗人和学者，但他的职业是医生，这足以证明他熟知“诗歌写作的解剖学”。他确定：“突围如愿终迎来春意”。他说：

风揭丑颂善的诗

为一枚

可引燃炸弹

柔美又温馨的诗

系内敛毫芒

一颗珠(289页)

 

卡门·玛丽娅·卡马乔·阿达维是西班牙的实力派诗人，她在两首诗作中向我们展示了“通向生活的幸福之路”。事实上，只要我们活着，我们就应当抽出时间，来爱、来笑、来哭、来玩、来读书、来做梦、来生活，当然，也来思考。(296页)

泰国诗人梦凌的诗作《在水一方》，引起我们的注意：

在水一方

是否伊人还在

吟诵着不朽的爱恋之歌(310页)

 

阿拉伯联合酋长国的诗人赛义夫·艾尔·马里，是两首诗的作者：《背叛者》和《骗人的影子》。他是一个敏感而浪漫的诗人。我相信，他的两首诗作将在稍有爱心的人的心中，引起一场风暴。诗歌证明：诗人之心，充满了天堂祝福之蜜酒：

她的青春不休，永远壮观，

如果房屋之遗迹扫除干净

被宽恕的时间，

她的一些，将回复予我，

我将回到我无忧无虑的青春。

我拥有她的心，而她拥有我的魂……(333页)

 

诗人张智是举世闻名的《世界诗人》季刊的主编、国际诗歌翻译研究中心主席，也是诗歌界的杰出诗人。笔名野鬼，是我的挚友，他全心全意奉献于诗歌，我为此感到骄傲。在他的诗中，我总是感到一个温柔的影子，他的诗语，撞击着我们的内心之墙。在《梦境》一诗中，他描述了一只小羊，看到自己的妈妈被烤而伤心哭泣，从而触动我们的内心：带着审美的眼光。(88页)

 

作为结语，我想说，张智博士把世界上这么多的诗人团结在一起，这是一件了不起的工作。为此，我们要感谢他！感谢为年鉴的编译做出贡献的国际诗歌翻译研究中心的其他成员！我认为，通过张智的诗作，通过张智和蔡丽双的行动，欲使“我们生活的地球”变成一个“梦境”：不分肤色，无论信仰，世界上的所有诗人可以团结起来，言说全球之爱、全球和平与全球之兄弟情谊。为此精神，我脱帽致敬！
