Sophy Chen (Lihua Chen), is a Chinese poet & translator. She is born in Lueyang, Shannxi, graduated from English Institute of Xi’an International Studies University and lives in Guangzhou now. Persimmon Turning Red In Front Of The Old House I Was Born
Its tall trunks soar straight up to the sky, on the dead branches
The sparse red color further enhances the blue of the sky
And deepens the coldness and desolation of winter
When I was young, during this season, the persimmons on the trees
Had already been completely picked and turned into the dried persimmons
In bunches, they were hung high up on the bare tree branches in front of the house
Each one was covered with a thick layer of white frost in white with a hint of red
Now, the first snow has quietly arrived
And then melted away quietly, and the persimmons are still leisurely hanging on the branches
From the transparent persimmon flowers to the green persimmon fruits
