Rifat Ismaili, born on March 24, 1968 in Shijak, is a poet, translator and essayist with international recognition. His creative activity includes novels, short stories, poems, essays, studies and translations, and he is known for his extensive contribution to Albanian and international literature. His translated poems are selected in “Sophy Chen’s Translation · World Poetry Yearbook 2023”(C-E Bilingual) ,etc.

SLEEPING ON A KNIFE
Often, as I write, they knock at the door,
tearing it out by the roots,
while the wind takes my pages away...
I cannot uncover a single trace;
it rains incessantly,
my killer remains hidden.
(Darkness aids only the dead,
combing their hair in its black mirror...)
I am the last living soul in this city.
All the others perished, eating fragments of walls.
A furious beast follows close behind me,
my rival to inherit the city.
I sleep on the blade of death.
My blood will quench the desert’s hunger,
where only one creature will wander:
the one that, sooner or later, will kill me!

This restless wind wants me to be homeless.
My tongue plays with these springing words, but my shadow is speechless.
Only this huge clock goes on talking to ages, as its brain is sleepless.
I collided with my broken window and ripped my skin, as I was careless.
Who am I in this life's mirages?
This broken window would invite the wind and my shadow's sadness.
Could I plant a tree whose leaves would knit my happiness?
I would love the sun to be your umbrella if it rained in darkness.
I would love my key to open your door, as my love is endless.
The wild wind swept my door in its madness.
If my key opened your door, my nights would not be starless.

SOFA
It was delivered with a big fanfare! Everybody wanted to look at it and enjoy that useful piece of furniture essential to any gathering place.
The grenadine red upholstery matched the rest of the room’s decoration. Placed in the ideal space, it was an invitation to those who walked in searching for comfort and reflection.
It was the stage for friendly, funny, disturbing, and touching conversations.
It witnessed the exchange of confidences and life secrets.
Many cozied up to listen to their favorite music from an LP record, relaxing after a stressful day.
Others sat there, quietly without saying a single word but being understood and respected for the anguish of the moment. They got up feeling as if a long and involving conversation had taken place.
Sitting on the sofa we saw the world go by carrying its sweet and sad memories.
It now rests worn out, dirty, mistreated, forgotten in a corner where nobody wants to sit anymore, just waiting to be discarded.
Oh, if only my sofa could talk! So many stories it would have to tell.

Bei Chen, from Jinzhou, Hebei Province, a member of the Chinese Writers' Association and the Chinese Poetry Society, currently resides in Shijiazhuang and has been publishing poetry since 1988. His works have been featured in various domestic literary periodicals and poetry anthologies. He has authored poetry collections such as “Grey Tiles”, “Echoes”, and “Fingerprints”, etc. He has also won the 6th Boao International Poetry Awards.

孙映，江苏灌云人，著名铁路诗人。1948年出生，1969年入伍。1979年参加对越自卫还击作战。1975年在部队期间开始从事业余诗歌创作，至今已在美国、日本及国内报刊发诗5000余首，已结集出版诗集8部，文集2部。现为中作协会员，中诗歌协会会员，中国铁路文协理事，太原市万柏林区作家协会名誉主席，《全球古诗词》主编。被翻译诗歌入选《苏菲译·世界诗歌年鉴2023》(汉英对照)等。
Sun Ying, from Guanyun, Jiangsu Province, is a renowned railway poet. He was born in 1948, enlisted in the military in 1969 and participated in the self-defense counterattack against Vietnam in 1979. In 1975, during his military service, he began to engage in amateur poetry creation. Up to now, he has published over 5,000 poems in newspapers and periodicals in the United States, Japan and China. He has also compiled and published 8 poetry collections and 2 anthologies. He is currently a member of the Chinese Writers’ Association, a member of the Chinese Poetry Association, a director of the China Railway Literature and Art Association, the honorary chairman of the Wanbailin District Writers’ Association of Taiyuan City, and the chief editor of “Global Ancient Poetry”. Sophy Chen, Lihua Chen, born in Lueyang, Hanzhong, Shannxi Province, China, is the Chinese contemporary poet, translator, publisher and world poetry manager. She graduated from English Institute of Xi'an International Studies University in English Literature. She is the founder of Sophy Chen World Poetry Awards, the President of Sophy International Translation Publishing House, Sophy Chen World Poetry Museum, the Chief Editor and Translator of Sophy Chen's Translation World Poetry Yearbook (C-E Bilingual), Sophy Poetry & Translation(C-E) World Poetry Paper Magazine, and Sophy Poetry & World Translation Websites. Sophy Chen is Admin Of PENTASI B World Friendship Poetry, a Member of the Translators Association of China, and a Member of the World Nations Writers Union, Kazakhstan. Sophy Chen is appointed as a Honorary Membership of PABLO NERUDA ASSOCIAZIONE CULTURALE and Jury Of “Il Parnaso - Angelo La Vecchia Award” of Italy.
